About Guild Wars 2

Guild Wars 2 is a free-to-play open-world MMORPG, the follow-up to ArenaNet’s popular Guild Wars. Building on that first game’s guiding principles, it offers a huge world to explore, populated with dynamic events that can start at any time and provide excellent variety in gameplay. It also features PvP, both open-world and instanced, dungeons, raiding, storytelling, and everything else you’d expect in a full-featured massively multiplayer online RPG.

You’ll choose from among the five races of Tyria – human, norn, charr, sylvari, and asura – and one of several classes. Each class has remarkable versatility, allowing it to fill a number of roles in a party and reducing the need for a full MMO-style “trinity.” Characters have limited skill bars of 10 slots; the first five are determined by your weapon and the second five by skills that you choose: a healing skill, three utility skills, and an elite skill. Different classes have ways to access other skills, and most classes have the ability to swap out weapons, so you’ll still have some variety in exactly what tools you can bring to each fight.

The heart of Guild Wars 2 is its open-world content. While there is some static content, in the form of “hearts” that you can complete once for NPCs, most of the game revolves around dynamic events, which spring up in the world at various times and often require large groups of players to complete. There are no traditional quests that require you to speak to NPCs to accept or complete them; instead, you can simply go from event to event, helping the people of Tyria as you see fit. Some events are parts of larger chains that string together and culminate in a giant event against a great threat to Tyria and require a hundred or more players to complete.

It used to be a great game but now they are just trying to push you to buy their paid content by removing the best part of the game, the daily missions that f2p and people that bought content could do. They brought the community together to kill monsters, gather resources, explore the maps and help each other. This was the soul of the game, now it's gone. Play Path of Exile instead, the devs actually like and listen to their community.

Guild Wars 2 offers several different types of gameplay. In addition to the open-world content, there’s structured PvP, which pits teams of five players against each other, and World vs. World, a series of open-world PvP maps where players fight over castles and other fortified (and un-fortified) spots to bring their home world to victory. Characters are autoleveled to 80 in each case, so you can jump right in and start enjoying these parts of the game immediately (though the free-to-play version of the game does have its limitations).

In most cases where I've asked "What's a good MMORPG to play?" people will suggest Guild Wars 2. Wish I had known earlier!

Guild Wars 2 was a Pay 2 Play game though soon it changed to becoming something free (with the exception that some parts must be unlocked through purchasing DLCs.)

Handful of options to pick from such as races, classes, and even spirit animals at the start lets you customize your hero and craft a story the way you want. The hero of the story is you! I myself created a brave warrior who is known for his shoulder pads. That's how immersive it is.

Definitely worth picking up if you enjoy playing MMORPGs.

Guild wars 2 really is one of the best mmorpg around here. It is a must try especially since it's gone f2p from a while now. Action combat, cool looking graphics, EPIC WvW battles where people fight to conquer castles etc for dominion against the opposing server(Basically a fight between servers).

I've been playing the game for 6 years and it's really the only mmorpg that stuck with me.

If you haven't tried it yet and your into that kind of thing than your should really check it out. :)

I've played this game for 2 years, and what I have to say is that it's worth it.
You have 9 classes, which one is from the expansion

The PvP is amazing, you really require skill to be good there, not gear.

The PvE, oh man, the PVE! It's so wonderful man, you can do a lot of things, you have a lot of dungeons. Some you might repeat them, due the in-game gold .
Play this game and post your review!
